Originally established as a US government owned town providing housing for workers involved in the Manhatten project during WWII, Richland has grown into a thriving community and a wonderful place to live! The Richland real estate market primarily offers homes in established neighborhoods with mature landscaping on generous sized lots. Many homes are much larger than they appear from the street as basements are quite common here. While browsing listings in Richland, make sure to explore more dtails than just the primary photo, you may find these homes have much more to offer than you thought at feirst glance. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, outdoor living is an important consideration for choosing to live in Richland. Many of our homes will feature either a private swimming pool or qualifthose y for membership in one of our many community pools.
With it's location along the Columbia and Yakima Rivers, Richland offers homes within easy walking distance of our many parks, walking trails, community pools and shopping. Richland is the closest city in the Tri Cities to the Hanford area, home to PNNL and the WSU Tri City campus. As a result, many people relocating to our area choose Richland for it's easy access to employment, education and recreation.
Along the Columbia, you'll find miles of walking trails connecting many parks offering unique swinging benches to rest on along the way. Parks offer playgrounds, open space, walking trails, swimming, beach volley ball, tennis and basketball courts. Chances are high you will share your adventure with some of our local wildlife as well as other residents enjoying time outdoors.
The Columbia river itself provides opportunities for pleasure boating, kayaking, water skiing, fishing and hunting. During the Summer months you'll find many of us out boating on the river.
The Yakima offers walking trails, excellent small mouth fishing and is a popular spot for many of our residents to float during the Summer months. Launches are marked from the river making it easy to put in up river and float the day away down to your pick up point.
Richland offers many of the top chain grocery and variety stores including, Safeway, Alberstsons, Winco, Fred Meyers, Target, Walmart and Home Depot. You'll also find big box stores as well as a wide variety of shopping choices in the Uptown shopping center.
Uptown is one of my favorite parts of Richland, it's an older outdoor shopping mall offering an eclectic hodge podge of shops and dining opportunities. You'll find everything from bike shops to antique consignment stores to restaurants and bars offering night life. It's really a fun place to spend the day browsing the shops and various dining options. Make sure to stop by and check it out if you are visiting Richland.
